New Policy To Encourage Community

Postby Chamblers » Fri Nov 19, 2010 7:29 pm

Hello All,

In order to weed out inactive users, and to give a more sense of community and knowing eachother, i think i am going to introduce a new policy.

Within 90 days of creating an account, a user must either fill out their profile with an actual bio or make an Introductions post.

So there is a poll attached to this post, please input your opinions.

Sounds good to me.

Thanks! I did it to encourage community, nothing brings people together like hard times such as the banning of Four Loko.

How's this to encourage community: meet Chalmbers in person, he'll buy you a Four Loko, just for being a ThQ member!

I'm for the policy, however, it doesn't seem uncommon (at least from the history of STP) for people to create an account, make an introduction and maybe even a post on the rest of the forums, and then never come back. So, I wonder if there might be a more effective way to keep people coming back. Maybe it would be good to make a Facebook group page so that people could get updates about the website through their Facebooks, and thus be reminded of the existence of TravelersHQ. While your policy works a bit through negative reinforcement, I wonder what forms of positive reinforcement we could have (other than just having a really good forum like we already do) that would keep people coming back. Also, I'm not entirely against negative reinforcement to some degree. (Apparently I'm a fascist.)
